PhD Students

  • Foto BeatriceBeatrice Lucia Bona was born in Managua in 1995 and was raised in Milan, where she obtained both her bachelor and master of science degrees in Biomedical Engineering (cell, tissue and biotechnology specialization). Her master thesis project was developed at the SupraBioNanoLab and it was focused on the synthesis and characterization of fluorinated theranostic nanovectors for gene delivery in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In 2020 she started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the “Politecnico di Milano” within a project aimed at developing nanosystems for controlled drug release in the diseased heart.
  • Eleonora VeroneseEleonora Veronese was born in Cantù in 1995. She obtained her Master’s degree in Pharmacy and Industrial Pharmacy at the University of Milano working on peptide synthesis for theranostic nanosystems. After a scholarship in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Milano, in October 2020 she started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, joining SupraBioNanoLab research group.

    Pietro Milesi was born in Milan in 1996. He obtained both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano, where he graduated with a thesis on the development of biocompatible nanoformulations containing perfluorocarbons for cell labelling, developed at the SupraBioNano group and in collaboration with the Research Institute of San Raffaele Hospital. 
    In 2021 he started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano with a project aimed at developing anti-tumour drug cocrystals and nanosystems for their release for both in vitro and in vivo applications.
     
  • Lorenzo Secundo
    Lorenzo Secundo was born in Milan in 1998. He obtained both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Milan working on the development of Pd-based catalysts for the production of bio-adipic acid and hydrogen. In November 2022 he started the PhD in Materials Engineering with a project aimed at developing sensors for the detection of halogenated pollutants in water, in collaboration with Pietro Fiorentini SpA.
  • Elisa Marelli
    Elisa Marelli was born in Milan in 1997. She obtained both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano, with a thesis on biocomposites based on cellulose nanofibrils and amyloidogenic peptides. In November 2022, she started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Her current research activity is focused on bio-inspired systems for the development of innovative green materials.
  • Ajay Suresh
    Ajay Suresh was born in Kerala, India in 1996. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science Dual-Degree in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal, India. His master thesis was focused on analysis of physico-chemical properties in developed molecular cocrystals. From November 2022, he started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, joining SBNLab research group.
  • Leonardo Leccioli
    Leonardo Leccioli was born in Milan in 1998. He completed his Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano. His Mater Thesis focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel low-dimensional perovskites demonstrating thermotropic liquid crystalline behavior. In November 2023, Leonardo started his Ph.D. in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering becoming part of the SupraBioNanoLab research group.
  • Martina BeccalliMartina Beccalli was born in Merate in 1999. She obtained her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Materials Engineering and Nanotechnology at Politecnico di Milano, where she graduated with a thesis project regarding the biophysical interaction between anticancer peptides and lipid model membranes, developed at Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, South Korea. In 2023 she started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano with a project focused on the development of fluorinated lipid nanoparticles as drug delivery carriers.

     

     

     

  • Lorenzo Fumagalli
    Lorenzo Fumagalli was born in Varese in 1999. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, specializing in the field of Cells, Tissues and Biotechnologies. His master thesis, which was developed at the SupraBioNanoLab, was focused on the characterization and in vitrotesting of a fluorinated nanovector for gene delivery in mouse models of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In November 2023, he started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano with a project aimed at the development of RNA-based nanovectors for motor neuron diseases, in collaboration with Neurological Institute Foundation “Carlo Besta”.
  • Silvia Laura Molteni

    Silvia Laura Molteni was born in Monza in 1998. She obtained her single cycle master's degree in chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology (CTF) at Università di Pavia, with a thesis developed at the Pharmaceutical Technology ad Law (PT&L) laboratory. In November 2023, she started the PhD in Industrial Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. The project, in collaboration with Syensqo (Solvay) and developed at SupraBioNanoLab, aims at the mineralization and recycling of fluorinated molecules, polymers and materials.
